StockChart is designed as an off-line graphical and technical analysis tool. As such, it is a slow process to update stock history data. A new feature included beginning in Version 3.2.2 facilitates a quick download of current prices for all stocks in all portfolios.
The data is presented as a database list which can be viewed in total or an individual stock can be queried. Data presented for each stock includes the current price, the change (in dollars), the change (in percent), the time of the information, the opening price, the daily high, the daily low, and the date.
The typical access time from requesting the data until the data is displayed is under two minutes including the time to establish a dialup connection. This feature makes the StockChart system far more versatile for use during the trading day.
In addition to the intraday "snapshots", the normal (end of trading day) StockChart processing also produces the same comprehensive data provided by the intraday snapshots.

All required files are provided in the UPDATE.EXE self extracting archive. They should be placed (along with all other executable files) in your /STOCKS folder. To successfully run and view the intraday snapshots, you must install KeyStuff on your HP 200LX.
Icons are provided and two positions are required on your More screen. To install the icon driven execution of the intraday snapshots (if you have your /stocks folder on the A: drive instead of the C: drive, substitute "a" for "c" in the paths shown below):
All that is required is to attach your modem and select the Stock Update icon. A list of your stocks will be downloaded, formatted, and the update viewer (Stockview.wk1) spreadsheet will be started. Stockview will load and display the latest data. Stockview starts in the Query mode. All or part of a stock symbol can be entered to locate a particular stock immediately. If only the [Enter] key is pressed, all stocks on the list will be available for selection by using the arrow keys. Stocks are listed in alphabetical order without regard to portfolios. Stocks can be selected by using the up or down arrow keys. Additional information on a particular stock (Opening price, High, Low, Date) may be viewed by using the Right arrow key to move to that information.
After a query is completed, press [Enter]. You will be asked to select another stock. If you wish to exit from query mode, press the "/" (forward slash) or [Menu] key followed by [Enter].
After the Get Charts process is run to update StockChart, a final (usually end of the trading day) price update is saved and processed. To view the closing price (or to look at the last intraday updated downloaded), select and activate the View Update icon. This will start the Stockview.wk1 update viewer and load the available stock price data.
